Butler Lumber Company is a Pacific Northwest based lumber distributor that sells plywood, moldings, and sash and door products. The sole owner of Butler Lumber is Mark Butler, accompanied by one administrative assistant and ten employees who focus on repairs and labor intensive work. Because of Butler Lumber’s competitive pricing scheme, it has seen rapid growth in the past few years. Due to the rapid growth and a shortage of cash in 1990, Butler Lumber Company is seeking to take out an additional loan in order for the business to sustain itself and grow in the coming†¦show more content†¦Mr. Butler could alternatively choose to take the unsecured revolving 90-day note of $465,000 at 10.5% interest from Northrop National Bank. The apparent advantages are: it is a more flexible option, it is an unsecured loan that requires no collateral from Mr. Butler, and it is of a larger amount. The big disadvantages are: the termination of the banking relatio nship between Butler Lumber and Suburban National Bank, and the increased interest expense on the loan. Another disadvantage of establishing a LOC with Northrop National Bank is the possibility of restrictions on the company stating that the net working capital be maintained at a level agreed upon by both parties and any increase in fixed assets with approval by Northrop. Also there would be limitations on withdrawals of funds from the business by Mr. Butler. Another form of pure carbon, called amorphous carbon, consists of graphite-like particles too tiny to see without a microscope. Diamonds and graphite have important industrial uses. But much of the carbon used in industry is amorphous carbon. Amorphous carbon and ash result when materials containing carbon are burned or heated without enough oxygen for them to burn completely. For example, if oil, natural gas, or other petroleum fuels are burned in limited supplies of air, powdery-black soot of amorphous carbon, called carbon black, is formed. Carbon black is used in rubber products and paint. Charcoal is used as a cooking fuel and ivory black, made by he ating ivory, is used as a pigment in paint. Most carbon occurs in combination with other elements. For example, the carbon dioxide in the air is a compound of carbon and oxygen. The first one being â€Å"blessing†, repeated twice, first on stanza 4 line 5 and in the title. This will imply to the reader that they are religious but not of any set religion of yet. The second one being â€Å"kindly god†, this shows to the reader that they are not of a Christian background and therefore are not Christian them selves. The value of water to the people in this poem is very great. This is shown by the word â€Å"silver† is being used. Silver is a pun as it has two meanings, one being the colour silver and the other being the value of silver. The poet may have intended to use both meanings as the water is very valuable to the people. Fortune† is used in the third Stanza, this is also a pun. One meaning being luck and how the people are lucky to have this â€Å"blessing†. Money is another meaning for â€Å"fortune† and the people have no money. The poet may want this to affect the reader by using both of these words and both of their meanings to make the reader think about every perspective. The structure indicates the pipe bursting, it shows how at the start it trickles out, this refers to the short sharp opening stanza which had end-stop punctuation. In the second stanza, it increases a little bit more. This will refer to the pipe building up more tension/pressure ready to burst out. In the third stanza, there is a big increase in lines and enjambment is used. Enjambment is when there is no punctuation at the end of a line and this forces the reader to read on and this helps the poem flow well. In stanza 4 the pressure of the pipe is slowly stopping, this is shown by the line length and the amount of lines, these being mainly short and not very many. Dharker gave the poem an irregular structure. The poem does have end-stop punctuation in some places and were it is not this helps the poem flow easier and is better for reading as it does not stop and start. Imtiaz Dharker uses the poetic technique of enjambment. She does this in stanza 3, line 3 and 4. â€Å"Silver crashes to the ground/and the flow has found†. This is an example of enjambment. This will give the poem the effect of it flowing more naturally, this gives the reader the idea of the poem flowing as water does. When the end-stop punctuation stops and the enjambment is being used this will give the effect of the stanza’s flowing easier and better to make it flow as easy as water does. Imtiaz Dharker was boring in Lahore in 1954. She moved to Glasgow of a young age and now speaks and writes in English. She also speaks Indian fluently as well. She now moves form England too India a lot of the time. She originates from India but would class them both as home. She writes this poem to inform of us as fortunate and lucky people that things like this are actually happening. She is showing and informing these people who are oblivious to all of this happening and trying to make them see what she has seen and experienced. This may not be written from experience but she has witnessed what it is to live at both ends of the scale. She has been through what it is like to be wealthy and she has witnesses the complete opposite and feels she to inform us of this. This comes across not being too forcing like some charity appeals are even though this is not a charity appeal it is only telling people that these things go on and let them act how they want in any way possible. This is good as it does not become too forcing for people and they are not pressured in to something and if this affects them enough this may help them act upon their thoughts. She is trying to show us what we take for granted in England. I believe the implications of the title are that they are describing what is happening in the poem. She has written this poem for the reader to question Island Man’s morals as he may have been confused of were his home is or were he is most welcome. Another way in which Grace Nichols emphasises sound is when she says the word â€Å"wombing†. I think she uses the image of a womb to the reader to imagine what it would be like to be in a womb. This being a sanctuary of piece and maybe feeling enclosed, every sound being muffled. This symbolises how Island Man feels claustrophobic, trapped in the imaginary womb. Grace Nichols has made up this word â€Å"wombing†, this may have been because their was no other word that could fit her description she was trying to portray to the reader. Grace Nichols uses this peculiar use of language to show how Island Man is in-between sleeping and waking and how the sounds around him influence what he hears in his dreams. This is to emphasise the loudness of the cars, in his dream the cars are interpreted as the â€Å"the sound of the blue surf†. Similar too Imtiaz Dharker’s use of onomatopoeia as she uses these to emphasise the sound of the thing she is describing. In stanza 3 she replaces the word sound, which would have made sense but she chooses to use â€Å"sand†. This shows how Island Man is connected with the Caribbean and dreams of being at home on the beach. Grace Nichols uses repetition in stanza 2 line 6, the phrase is â€Å"groggily, groggily†. This emphasises how Island Man is still half asleep. Groggy means for some to still be very tired and still be feeling like they should be asleep, this is shown in â€Å"Island Man† as he is feeling very tired and feels like this. Repetition will emphasise what the poet want to get across to the reader and in â€Å"Island Man† this creates an atmosphere of being lazy. Personification is uses in stanza 2 line 3. â€Å"The sun is surfacing defiantly† is the example of this. Personification is when you would make an object or thing have human features or feelings. This line shows how the sun is in the Caribbean as in London most days would be dark and overcast. In the Caribbean were Island Man feels most comfortable is where the sun would be. A point to back this up is when Grace Nichols implies it is his island. She does this when she says â€Å"of his small emerald island†. She does this to imply to the reader this is where he feels most welcome at home in the Caribbean with the sun sea and sand. An example of a pun is in the poem were he poet states the word â€Å"emerald† in the sentence â€Å"of his small emerald island†. Imtiaz Dharker also has a use of a pun this being â€Å"silver†. Both â€Å"silver† and â€Å"emerald† are describing colour and fortune/preciousness. One of the meanings of â€Å"emerald† being colour may be describing the green vegetation of the island, the Caribbean and England. Another meaning for â€Å"emerald† is how precious it is. When Grace Nichols uses â€Å"his† in this sentence this shows to the readers that the Caribbean is his own island at heart. This shows the connection that Island Man had with the Caribbean and how he feels alienated in London. A comparison to â€Å"Blessing† would be that they are using a pun for the same reason. This being to show how precious the water/island is to the people/Island Man and how the colour influences the people and Island Man. Grace Nichols uses repetition again in stanza 4 line 1. This is when she repeats the word â€Å"muffling†. Grace Nichols does this to emphasise to the reader how Island Man is still half in a sleeping state. This would also give the effect on the reader that Island Man is talking in his sleeping state. A link back to a quote at the start of the poem would be when Grace Nichols writes â€Å"wombing†. He seeks out companionship as a physical release, but nothing more.   This depression leads Miss Lonelyhearts to search for something that may bring good in the world, and turns to Christ.   Through Miss Lonelyhearts, West is addressing a central dilemma facing modern man; having abandoned God, where do people turn to for answers? Turning to Christ does not seem to provide resolve for Miss Lonelyhearts, as he even feels that he and the world fail at religion.   He initially turns to Christ when his boss, Shrike, mocks him by writing a prayer that compares Miss Lonelyhearts to Christ.   Miss Lonelyhearts thinks that perhaps Christ can help him to help these people, but knows that ultimately the suffering of others will be more than he can bear. He knows that he is not Christ, although he tries desperately to emulate the Christian faith, through the sacrifice of a lamb, which doesn’t work.   Miss Lonelyhearts is trying to find order in a chaotic world.   The world exists as one in which faith should have the ability to save people, but it won’t.   Miss Lonelyhearts creates this order in a manner to deal with the chaos and depression.   Miss Lonelyhearts believes that it is this very modern world that is killing itself. Miss Lonelyhearts does not attach emotion to people or relationships.   The other people in his life are there for a purpose.   Betty represents the order that he thinks that he and the world need.   Emotion is not something that Miss Lonelyhearts displays in any way other than when he is angry.   He appears to be trying to get himself out of his current situation, but the depression of his readers suggests to him that there is no hope, only despair.   Christ could not provide a way out for him and turns instead to sex.   His admission that he does not believe in Christ appears to come from his refusal to acknowledge the sin in his own life. Even with women and during sex, it is not as though he longs for their companionship or is even excited by their presence.   It seems as though it is just another task in his day.   It is a physical release.   The people who write to Miss Lonelyhearts did not represent a world where love could exist.   Rather, they represented a world where hearts get broken and dreams vanish. Miss Lonelyhearts lets the world beat him down.   His boss is never kind or reassuring.   His coworkers mock him and remind him that he must not be a man, given the position that he works in.   Even punched in a bar, he does not retreat, but barely even notices.   He is emasculated by Mary and others, as he retreats further and further into himself and his world. When all else fails, Miss Lonelyhearts removes himself to the country in one more attempt to free himself from this suffering.   His retreat is also to nature, as nature may help the world heal itself.   His suffering is revealed in his illness in the country.   As he endures his suffering it is reminiscent of Christ.   He endures the suffering and takes on the suffering of others.   In his illness, he realizes that even leaving his job would not relieve him of this suffering, because it is now part of him.   This suffering is leaving him numb.   He even begins to feel like stone. His three day illness is representative of the death of Christ. Miss Lonelyhearts returns to the city a stronger man, ready to face his battle.   He seems resigned to accept Christ into his life, seems to know that his suffering is nearly over.   His religious experience joins him with God and makes him faithful, ready to embrace life.  Ã‚   Miss Lonelyhearts decision to embrace God and life brings him the peace he needs that frees him from the suffering of his life. The Christian faith plays a major role in Miss Lonelyhearts.   Miss Lonelyhearts displays his obsession with Christ with the picture of Christ that is hung on his walls.   He takes the disorder of the world and tries to create a cross with it.   He tries to reproduce the sacrifice of Christ by sacrificing a lamb.   Ultimately, Miss Lonelyhearts fails his mission and he feels he has failed most of his life.   His failed sacrifice of the lamb represents the failure of religion in the modern world and the failure of Miss Lonelyhearts to live up to the Christian faith.   The stone, as used by Miss Lonelyhearts to sacrifice the lamb, is a repetitive theme in the novel. Miss Lonelyhearts is virtually a female writer himself, by name and his position as an advice columnist.   Miss Lonelyhearts is not treated like a male.   Even the women in his life can be cruel and overbearing.   Miss Lonelyhearts continued emasculation contributes to his anger and depression. Miss Lonelyhearts's job was considered to be a joke, an effort to laugh at the expense of   the victims of the world.   Miss Lonelyhearts considers himself to be a victim also.   He feels that he has been victimized professionally.   Because of Shrikes strong willed nature and his mockery of Miss Lonelyhearts faith, he feels that he is unable to provide any meaningful answers to the people who write to him for help.   This makes him the loneliest of all. The environment undergoes many transformations, as Miss Lonelyhearts reveals himself. Initially, Miss Lonelyhearts maintains a sterile environment, always seeking order in his world. The reveal shows a man who is struggling more than his writers would have known.   His is not a sinless world.   He was always seeking redemption from something and seeking redemption for others who suffered.   Miss Lonelyhearts is representative of the disillusionment that can be found in the American dream and the broken promises of religion, and society as a whole. The victims who write to Miss Lonelyhearts have dreams and wishes of a better life.   They have no resources to accomplish their dreams and no ability to work toward them, and their condition weakens.  Ã‚   He asserts that even their faith cannot help them, as his Christ dream could not help him.   His redemption, in the end, seems as simple as giving up as it does finding his faith. In an attempt to offer salvation to the crippling throng of humanity that writes him daily in the advice column of a big city newspaper, Miss Lonelyhearts became a self-anointed crucifixion figure, who dies tragically at the hands of someone he tried so desperately to help.   Having abandoned God, the newspaper has replaced traditional modes of seeking solace and compassion. Weighed in the balances of human suffering, the newspaper is found wanting. Religion that once provided man with some sense of security has been replaced by a hollow media.

These species were first introduced to the United States as a benefactor and had spread throughout the country. Although invasive species were first introduced to be beneficial to the enviroment, economy, and public health, they cause more damage and harm in most cases. Invasive species are harmful to other native species and time, and money should be invested to prevent the continuous spread and damage caused. When non-native species from other ecosystems are introduced, they can upset the balance of an already-established ecosystem of plants and animals. Tamarisk was " first brought into the United States in the late 1800s and early 1990s as an ornamental shrub and as a stabilizing plant along streambeds, [however], the plant soon escaped its "boundaries" and spread prolifically" (Pieper). The pericope that I choose for this reflection paper is Numbers 17:1-13. This pericope is the last in the series of three narratives about the revolt of Israel congregation against the high priest position of Aaron and the leadership of Moses. The first revolt came from Korah. Korah was a member of the tribe of Levi, the same tribe of Aaron (Exodus 6:16-20). Korah’s rebellion is not merely a personal attack on Aaron but also on his appointed-by-God priesthood. The second revolt led by Dathan and Abiram and the 250 other lay leaders defied and rejected the leadership of Moses. These revolted leaders have a very democratic argument, which is the will of the people must have higher authority than the leadership appointed by God. God answers by kill all the leaders and the followers of these two revolted parties. All those events establish the context for the text in Numbers 17:1-13. In this pericope, God instructs Moses to set up one final test in order to show His approval for A aron’s prietshood. This final test is intended to put an end to the people’s questioning and challenging of the authority of both Aaron and Moses. One way is to make English language a compulsory subject. In my school just as Mathematics, Science and other social subjects are taught English should also be introduced as proper course. All students from their very early education will be introduced to English. All students would be required to pass the English course before they can be promoted to the next grade. For example a grade one who is not able to pass grade one English course will not be promoted to grade 2. Similarly grade two student will not be promoted to grade three until he has passed the English course. The level of complexity and difficulty of English would be increased slowly and gradually each year so that when a student finishes his primary education he is able to read, write, and understand the Basic English. Communication and skills or could be improved by encouraging students to speak in English when in school rather than native language. The second way would be to teach all the subjects in English from the beginning instead of the local language. In Thailand currently all the subjects we mostly taught in the local language so that the students can grasp the ideas more quickly and easily. As a results the students became used to study everything in local language rather than English. If all the subjects are taught in English the students will learn the language more quickly and they will also be comfortable in using in the language later in their educational life when they study more advanced subjects in English. In short all schools should be made strictly English medium. From the two suggestions that I have made I think the second one will be more effective and feasible. I say that because if all the subjects we taught in English then it would be easy for students to adapt the language. If on the others hand there is only one cause of English language and the rest of the subjects we taught in local language then the students will not concentrate on the English language enough. Students might try to just pass the English course and focus more on the others subject since they might find the other course easier to understand. An example to support my argument could be comparison of the students of India and China. From my research I have found out that students in India are taught all the subjects during their primary education in English. As a result the students do not consider English as a foreign language but rather consider English as an integral and core part of their early education. The result is that Indian students are able to understand and communicate more efficiently compared to students of other nationalities. Chines on the other hand are taught all their course in local language. So although they have sharp minds and critically they have a hand time communicating all their ideas in English language. Conclusion In conclusion, if we are use English language in all subjects and always taught in English that students will have concentrate to study because if they not concentrate then will difficult to learning. When students can use English well they can learn the language more quickly. In Thailand should to pass the English course before then they can be promote to the next grade. If they can’t pass English course then they can continue study again until they have passed the English course. I think, this way is possible for my school.
